Vegan Bar Ingredients
To make Energy Bars, you need the most common ingredients. The base of the bars is almond flour, crushed rolled oats, bananas and refined coconut oil. As a supplement, cacao powder. orange zest and juice. Before preparing rolled oats, grind in a blender or coffee grinder.
In addition to all these products, we will need dark chocolate without sugar. You can find out how to make delicious dark chocolate on my website.
How to make Chocolate Orange Energy Bars
Our bars consist of two layers. And first we will prepare the chocolate layer.
Chocolate layer
First, in a bowl, mix almond flour, crushed rolled oats and cacao powder. Then place the peeled bananas and melted coconut oil in a blender bowl. Grind bananas until smooth.
Next, add the mashed bananas and butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until all ingredients come together. Place the preparation for the chocolate layer in a mold on parchment and distribute evenly. Place the mold with the first layer aside and proceed to the orange layer
Orange layer
The process for making the orange layer is almost the same as for the chocolate layer. First, mix almond flour and chopped oats. Then use a blender to puree the bananas, coconut oil, orange juice and zest. Add the resulting mass to the flour mixture.
The orange layer should be more liquid than the chocolate layer. Next, place the orange mixture in the mold on the chocolate layer and level it out. Place in the freezer for 2 hours until hardened.
Remove the frozen mass from the mold and cut into portions. Next we need to cover each bar with chocolate. And for this you need to melt the chocolate and temper it. If you don’t temper the chocolate, it will melt very quickly in your hands.
And so melt the chocolate in the microwave in short bursts or in a water bath. Heat the chocolate to 45°C / 110°F. Then cool the chocolate to 27°C / 80°F while stirring constantly with a silicone spatula. To make the chocolate cool faster, place the bowl on something cold.
You can also pour the chocolate into another container. When the chocolate has cooled to the desired temperature, dip each bar into it. Place the bars with not yet hardened chocolate on parchment paper and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Store Chocolate Orange Energy Bars in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, put the dessert in the freezer.
